The Menegarie
Mark knew there was something up with, Ethan, the new kid. He was always on the verge of being late, he always looked like he didn’t sleep, and he was constantly carrying around a briefcase. Mark wouldn’t think much of this, if not for the day the teacher demanded he open it.
Ethan had showed up right as the bell rang. The teacher glared at him, but Ethan simply murmured an apology and sat at the far corner in the back. He put the briefcase down, only for it to start rattling. The teacher stared right at him, but Ethan smiled nervously. She walked up to him. “Mr. Nestor, please open the briefcase.”
Ethan paled. When he didn’t react, the teacher tapped her foot impatiently. “Today, Mr. Nestor.”
“Of course,” he muttered, going to unlatch the suitcase. Mark and Sean exchanged glances, but neither of them said anything, simply reverting their attention to the boy nervously fiddling with the latches. The briefcase rattled again, but Ethan didn’t seem to notice as he opened up the briefcase for everyone to see.
It was a normal briefcase. It has some textbooks, folders, a jacket and a scarf. It looked completely ordinary. The teacher glared at him suspiciously, but said nothing.
Mark and Sean explained the entire thing to their friends, but they simply said that they were being paranoid and stalker-ish.
That was when Mark actually started observing Ethan. And he found some troubling results. Ethan was constantly looking around, as though he could hear something they couldn’t. He snuck out of the dorms every night, snuck food into his bag during meals, and seemed to be constantly injured, as well as sleep deprived. Ethan had somehow lucked out and gotten a room to himself, so Mark didn’t even have a roommate he could interrogate. Sean noticed everything, too, but neither of them did anything about it.
They finally decided to when Ethan showed up to class heavily favoring his right leg. He was practically hopping. The teacher noticed, and demanded Ethan show her the leg. Ethan had sighed, but reluctantly rolled up his jeans to reveal the huge wound on his leg. It looked like something bit him, but no animal had jaws that big. The teacher gawked for a second, before shakily demanding that he see the nurse. Ethan waved off help and limped out of the classroom.
Sean and Mark finally had enough. They planned to follow him today. When he came back with the cane, they knew it would be a lot easier. When classes let out, both boys purposely waited until Ethan was ahead of him, briefcase in tow. Both followed, forcing small talk so as to not be suspicious. They both finished all their homework in a rush, making sure to keep an ear out for when Ethan snuck out in the night. They both finished around the time for dinner, almost scrambling out of the room when they heard Ethan’s door open.
They followed Ethan to the dining hall. Ethan sat alone in a corner, as usual, but Mark and Sean were both careful to sit close by to keep an eye on him. Ethan seemed more nervous than usual, his eyes constantly flitting around the room.
Mark and Sean both got back to their room about a half hour later, when Ethan left. They both were pacing, excited to find out the weird boy’s secret.
They stayed awake until midnight, when they finally heard Ethan’s door open, and started. Sean held a finger up for them to wait, and they waited until they could no longer hear the cane on the ground, when they finally strayed out of the room. “How far d’you think he’ll go with the cane?” Mark muttered to Sean.
Sean shrugged. “Hopefully not very. For both our sakes and his.”
They followed him until they reached the back entrance of the school, Ethan slowly slipping out. They waited a moment, before following him. They followed him into the woods.
“Hey!” Ethan yelled. He had taken out a steak from their dinner and was waving it around animatedly. “I know you’re out there.”
“What is he doing?” Sean muttered. Mark simply shrugged.
“Is he talking to us?” Sean hissed. Mark made a shut up motion and they went back to watching Ethan wave around the steak, still leaning heavily on the cane. “C’mon, buddy, that chunk you took out of me couldn’t be enough. You have to still be hungry.”
Mark and Sean exchanged panicked looks. Something did bite him! Ethan was still waving around the beef. Something rustled in front of Ethan. Sean and Mark both froze. Ethan, however, had no such qualms, and walked towards the rustling. “That’s it,” he murmured.
Nothing happened. Then, a huge dragon slowly walked out. Mark and Sean were both frozen in terror. It looked as though it could rip them apart on a whim. “Is the plan to grab him and bolt?” Sean hissed.
“Yep,” Mark hissed back. They both prepared to grab the young boy, when Ethan held out his hands to the dragon. The dragon gazed at him warily, before settling on it’s haunches in front of him.
“Hey there, beautiful,” Ethan murmured. “I knew you’d come to me.” The dragon seemed to purr when Ethan leaned to scratch the bottom of its neck soothingly. “Here, you must be starving.” Ethan reached into his briefcase and pulled out what looked like enlarged dog treats. The dragon puffed, making Mark and Sean tense, but they relaxed when it seemed to nuzzle Ethan affectionately. Ethan giggled at that. “You’re just a big ole softy, aren’t you?” He cooed.
Mark and Sean both washed in fascination as Ethan fed the dragon, still cooing at it. “I need to pick a name for you, don’t I?” Ethan mused. “How about Spencer?” Spencer snorted, letting out some smoke from its nose. Ethan grinned. “Spencer it is!”
Ethan finally stood up and opened the briefcase. “Now, I hate to ask this of you, but I need you to shrink down so you can join everyone else.”
The dragon tilted its head, before starting to glow and shrink to about the size of a German Shepherd. “That’s it!” Ethan enthused. He pointed to the briefcase. “In you get, Spence!”
“What the hell?” Sean muttered. Mark couldn’t agree more. How the hell was that going to fit in a briefcase that size. Spencer dove in, and Sean and Mark gawked when he seemed to sink like he was in water. Ethan stepped into the case and sunk, too.
Sean and Mark were dumbfounded. “Wanna follow him?” Mark finally asked.
“Hell yeah,” Sean half screamed, sprinting at the case at full speed. He hesitated, before stepping into it. He gasped when he started to sink. Mark hastily follows suit.
They were both spit out into what looked like a zoo. There were dozens of huge enclosures, all housing different creatures. Creatures they thought to be mythical. Ethan was showing Spencer to a rocky habitat. Mark and Sean both had to stop themselves from being seen by Ethan. “Is that a unicorn?” Mark hissed, pointing at a grassy enclosure
“I think it is,” Sean whispered back, his jaw slack with amazement. Mark wasn’t much better.
“I haven’t forgotten about you, little buddy,” Ethan muttered, reaching into his pocket and pulling out what looked like a fairy. “Hey, Blank.”
“The twins are hungry,” Blank said back.
“Ethan!” Two voices shouted. Ethan hastily went into his bag and grabbed more food from dinner and approached what looked like an aquarium. Marla and Sean gawked at two mermen glancing at Ethan.
“Mike, Heapass, I haven’t forgotten you two,” Ethan said to them, giving them dinner.
“You got the dragon!” Mike cheered.
“Not after it took a bite out of him,” Blank muttered under his breath.
“Don’t worry, it’s fine,” Ethan said quickly.
The mermen looked hesitant, but didn’t seem to be in the mood to push.
Ethan put Blank on his shoulder and walked away, the twins chattering happily in the background. “Updates, Blank?”
“You need to feed Chica,” the fairy replied sadly.
“Lighten up, Blank!” Ethan said cheerfully as he grabbed what looked like an entire chicken from a storage room and approached what appeared to be a chimera. Mark’s jaw was wide open with astonishment, and Sean was not much better. “You’re not the one with a cane.”
“I already yelled at you yesterday,” Blank grumbled. “There’s two unidentified life forms in the Menagerie.”
Ethan laughed softly. “Nah, I knew they were there. They’re not very good at sneaking.” Ethan raised his voice at the end, turning to Mark and Sean, cocking his hip pointedly. They both stepped out sheepishly, trying to look at Ethan instead of the other mythical creatures in the room.
“Sorry,” Mark said, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. “We didn’t mean to intrude.”
“You’ve been stalking me for months,” Ethan said, snickering. “Blank knew it instantly.” Blank had flown up to Ethan’s shoulder, where he nodded at them smugly. The two mermen gazed at them curiously.
“We were just concerned,” Sean tried to defend.
“It’s fine,” Ethan said, smirking. “I’d be investigating me, too, if I saw someone as suspicious as me“
“What is this place?” Mark asked.
“I’d tell you, but then I’d have to end you,” Ethan said, his voice going lower at the end. Mark and Sean both froze.
The mermen suddenly started laughing. “Their faces,” the pink and blue one wheezed.
Blank was sniggering, too, flying over to perch near the mermen and pout when they playfully splashed him.
“No, I’m just messing with you,” Ethan giggled. “I call it my menagerie.”
“Are they mermen?” Sean blurted our, pointing at the aquarium.
“The technical term is nanaid.” The brunette answered. “I’m Heapass, and that’s my brother, Mike. The fae up there sulking is Blank.”
“I’m not sulking,” Blank grumbled. “Sup?”
“You guys can’t tell anyone,” Ethan said to Mark and Sean. “They’ll get taken away from me, and that can’t happen.”
Mark and Sean exchanged glances, before looking at Ethan. “It’ll cost you,” Sean said, putting a hand on his hip.
Ethan sighed and pulled out a wad of cash. “This enough?”
“What? No, no, not money,” Sean said.
“You take us with you when you visit,” Mark finished.
Ethan gaped. “I go every night.”
“You show up to class injured and tired a lot,” Mark said. “Let us help you.“
“We can help feed these guys,” Sean said eagerly, running over to the unicorn and petting it.
“That’s Gizmo,” Ethan said, laughing at Sean’s excitement.
“So what do you say?” Mark asked, holding his hand out. “Partners?”
Ethan looked at Sean as he practically skipped over. “Yeah, Eef, what do you say?”
Ethan paused, glancing at them. Then, he sighed and shook Mark‘s hand. “Deal.” He stepped back and grinned. “Welcome to the Menagerie.”

Trigger Warning: cutting, eating disorder, (notes of) depression
Author’s Note: Uhh so here’s another one. I enjoy writing stories, so please, continue requesting!
Prompt/Request: OK SO IDK WHICH ONE I WANT TO REQUEST SO IM DOING BOTH. Can I request a mc x asmo scenario where mc is a super duper popular idol but it’s later revealed that in order to keep her beauty she develop an eating disorder and started to develop depression resulting in cutting her self?? Sorry for the weird ask!!
—————
You had always heard the saying ‘beauty is pain’. You didn’t realize how much pain it was, however, until you got down to the Devildom. Of course, you weren’t totally off Scott-free, your fans still expected some content, and you were in no place to deny them that.
Now, you loved the majority of your fans. They always backed you up, defended you and the link, but there was just somethings they couldn’t defend you from. Including yourself, unfortunately.
Getting famous started moderately fine, you went viral because of your singing videos, and you guess some modeling businesses enjoyed your looks and attitude enough that they asked if you could do some shoots. From then on, it was a whirlwind of sessions, meet and greets, starving yourself and self harming.
That last part was relatively new, and it was caused by some hate that you had received. Well, hate was to put it in modern terms. A tabloid had started rumors that you had gained weight, which wasn’t wrong (you were still growing and maturing, your body weight is going to fluctuate), but they stretched it beyond what it was and paired it with some terrible pictures taken with your guard down. It all mixed to create a terrible atmosphere, especially when other tabloids started to gossip about your weight as well.
Eventually it seemed that your weight was the only thing important. So, you started to cut down on food. You started to take walks and workout moderately regularly, and the results were almost instantaneous. You dropped a few pounds a week, your figure slimmed down and you had never felt better. But then, the opposite effect happened with the tabloids, talking about how much weight you had lost, but this time they were praising you. You loved that feeling, it’s why you continued singing and modeling anyway.
People called you beautiful and you thrived off the attention, which is probably why when you went to the Devildom you and Asmodeus hit it off so quickly.
You two were best friends within the first week you were there- and since he had a tendency of going partying after school and hanging out with other friends of his on some days, he never noticed how little you truly ate.
None of the other brother’s noticed, or you figured they didn’t.
But then something happened, you stopped losing weight as quickly as you had been. This sends you into spirals of anxiety, making you cut back more and more, exercise more. But it didn’t work. In fact, one week when you had weighed in, you had gained weight.
As you stared at that number flashing at you, the number that was only a pound above where it had been last week, you started sobbing.
Thoughts piled up in your mind about how you weren’t good enough anymore, about how your fans will leave you, about how Asmodeus would leave you. His friendship meant the world to you, and you would be lying if you told yourself that a friendship was all that you wanted from him.
But he was out partying with demons that were better than you, no doubt, ones that were skinnier, more confident, and yards better than you in everything.
In the back of your mind, you remembered the hater’s comments on some of your most popular songs, telling you about doing things to your body. You remember the tabloids gossiping about self-harm scars on popular actresses' bodies, and you thought about why they would do that. It’s said to be a pleasure source, something that makes the person doing it feel better.
You would do anything to feel actually, genuinely happy, for once, so before you even thought about it you had popped a blade out of the razor in the bathroom and pressed it to your hip. You almost never showed off your stomach, so it wouldn’t be that big of a deal.
You flinched away from the wound almost immediately, the pain coming in tiny spikes. But then, eventually, there was a bit of pleasure coming from it, watching little dots of blood pop up and drip down your hip and fall onto the ground. You cut yourself again, then once more.
You swallowed, breaking out of the trance the red lines had put you in before you realized that you needed to finish your homework. You cleaned up your cuts, sliding on a pair of loose-fitting joggers and a shirt you had taken from Asmodeus and padded over to your desk, sitting in the sodden chair, trying not to bother the cuts more than the pants would already. You quickly finished the homework, well as quickly as you could when every few minutes or so you would move slightly and the cuts would be agitated, and for a few quick moments you considered taking off your pants, but you didn’t know when Asmodeus would make his way to your room and come in without knocking like he usually did.
Though eventually you did change into some sleeping shorts, ones that almost fell off of your body, and that were practically bootie shorts.
“Doll, I’m coming in,” you heard Asmodeus’ voice through the door before he opened it. You were laying on your back on your bed, your head hanging off and your DDD in your hand.
“Asmo!” You called gleefully, his face immediately lightening your mood substantially. “How was the party?”
“It wasn’t as good as the one the other week, you remember that one, right doll? The one I forced you to come to.”
“Oh, yeah that one. I love that the first party you made me go to was also a rave. Go big or go home, right?”
“Of course! Now, Doll, what are we doing tonight? We could watch a movie and eat some unhealthy snacks?”
“Uh, we can watch movies, but I don’t really want to eat anything,” you told him, flipping around on your bed and sitting on your legs. He tilted his head and a frown formed between his two perfectly sculpted eyebrows.
“Oh? But Lucifer told me you didn’t eat tonight, you must be hungry?”
“No, I’m not really,” you assured him, but your stomach decided to betray you in that exact moment almost as if it was saying ‘don’t lie to him I am hungry’.
He looked from your stomach to your face with an unamused look on his face.
“[Y/N], he also told me that he’s never seen you eat, that you don’t eat dinner here at all. You know you don’t have to lie to me, right?”
The honesty in his voice and the look in his eyes almost broke you.
“I know,” he looked concerned, but didn’t push you. You knew you would tell him about your disorder when you were ready, hopefully if he had any idea about your disorder, he knew that too.
The two of you decided to do an at-home spa day, and he took you to his room. The two of you did face masks, hair masks, mani-pedis, and other things like that.
You had chosen each other’s nail colors, and you had picked an orange color to match his eyes, and he picked pink, using a holographic color on your ring figures. You liked that enough you did that on his ring figured too so you both would be matching.
While you waited for your nails to dry and picked out toenail polish, he asked you about any crushes.
“Oh, no, Asmo, I don’t really have my eyes on anyone,” you lied as you looked through the shades of blue he had. His eyes immediately lit up.
“Yes! Yes you do, I knew it! Who is it?” He said excitedly, and you shook your head.
“I knew you wouldn’t believe that. I’m not going to tell you because it’ll never happen, trust me.”
“Doll, how could you say that? I’m sure a lot of people would love to date you, to be able to call you theirs!” You shook your head, scoffing at him.
“Not this guy. I’m pretty sure he had his eyes on someone else, anyway.”
“Is it Lucifer? It does seem like he has his eyes on Diavolo, but I don’t know about that one, Doll. You still might have a chance.”
“No! It’s not Lucifer, I don’t have that big of daddy issues.”
“Who is it? Please, tell me,” he begged, and for the first time you actually looked at him. His eyes showed almost.. sadness. He seemed sad to be thinking about you with someone else.
You just shook your head.
“Asmo,” you let out, leaning back and looking at him. “It’ll ruin this.” He frowned.
“[Y/N], what do you mean?”
“Asmo,” here it comes, you just decided to let it out. “I like you. I really, really like you. But I understand if it weirds you out, if I’m not your type, I-”
You were interrupted when Asmo held the back of your head and brought your lips to his. You melted into his, and he put his hands on your hips and pulled you onto his lap. You let out a yelp when he pulled on you a little too hard, your cuts opening.
“Doll, what’s wrong?” He asks, before looking down at where his hands were, one of his hands having a little spot of blood on them and the shorts being stained with a little amount of blood. “[Y/N], what’s this?” You let his lift your shirt and pull down your shorts slightly, and he let out a small gasp, his face dropping as he took in your figure, one significantly smaller than it had been when you first came, and the multiple cuts you had on you.
“I, it’s just stress. The tabloids, the comment sections of almost anything when I post pictures, it’s all just a lot.”
“Doll, you could have come to me. Here, let’s fix you up a little bit,” he soothed, picking you up and making you wrap your legs around him, carrying you to his bathroom and dressing your wounds. You didn’t say anything to him. “When’s the last time you ate or drank anything?”
“I drank some water earlier today,” you tell him, and he smiles slightly and strokes your hair. “Good job on that, Doll. But we need to get some food in your stomach, okay?”
Your heartbeat sped up, and you shook your head, tears coming.
“No, Asmo, I can’t eat. Please, don’t make me.”
“I’m not asking you to eat much, please, I can’t have my girl dying on me. What about a piece of fruit and some more water?”
You looked at the floor for a few seconds.
“Can we watch something while I eat, and cuddle, please? It’ll help me take my mind off of it, I think.” He nods, and you both walk to the kitchen after fixing your clothes.
Grabbing your food and water you make your way to your room and turn on [TV show or movie] as Asmo sat on the floor, pulling you into his lap, his chest pressed against your back. He kissed underneath your ear.
Once you had finished the food, which took a bit, but it’s still down for now, he praised you.
“Good girl, Doll. Now finish the water and he can cuddle more.”
You finish the water and turn to him.
“Thank you, Asmo. For helping me.”
“Of course, Doll. I love you.”
“I love you too.”

Family — Wonho AU | Prologue
A/N: Okay so this is my first fanfic as a monbebe so I’m a little terrified nervous to put it out but hopefully someone enjoys it...I got the idea from a scenario blog I linked below. They have some really nice and creative prompts so definitely check out the blog :)
Characters: Single father Wonho, Reader, Female OC
Genre: Angst, Fluff
Length: 2270 words
Parts: Part One | Part Two | Part Three | Part Four | Part Five | Part Six | Part Seven
When Wonho’s girlfriend leaves him and their daughter, he turns to you for the help he needs. Based off of Scenario Idea #14 from @scenarioideas
- 7 years ago –
“Hey loser,” A strong shoulder playfully bumped your own and you turned to find Wonho grinning at you. “What are you doing tonight?”
“I have my final project I need to finish. Why?”
“I was gonna take Ahreum to the new cafe that opened. She mentioned wanting to check it out a few weeks ago. Want to come with?”
You give him an exasperated sigh and a pointed look. “No, I’m not coming with you and your girlfriend on your date.”
Wonho let out an exaggerated whine causing a few other students nearby to look over. “Come on Y/N! It’ll be fun!”
With a huff you stopped and turned to look at him fully. He followed your lead and gave you a pleading look. His bottom lip poked out in the hint of a pout and you watched unamused as he blinked innocently at you. Shaking your head, you shut your eyes. “I can guarantee you Ahreum doesn’t want me on your date.”
Rolling his eyes Wonho sighed. “Ahreum likes you just fine.”
“She can still like me and not want me on a date. I’m not third wheeling, final answer.”
Wonho groaned but accepted it. Biting your lip, you turned and continued walking, trying to ignore sudden longing in your chest. You didn’t want to go to the cafe with him and Ahreum, you wanted to go with him.
You’ve known Wonho since second grade when he stole your crayons and cried when you angrily demanded them back. The grudge against him ended in fourth grade, however, when he tried to save you from bullies who then turned their mean words onto him. When he’d started to cry and their laughter kicked in, it was your turn to step up. Neither of those kids messed with you again.
From there he’d always invite you to play with him and his other friends and soon enough the two of you had become almost inseparable. But it wasn’t until the first year of high school that you came to terms that your feelings of friendship, though still there and stronger than ever, had also turned romantic. You’d hidden these realizations until a mutual friend Kihyun had convinced you to confess in your third year.
However, the day you built up the courage to do so, was also the day Wonho revealed to you and your other friends that he was dating Ahreum.
Now nearing the end of senior year, you continuously tried to push away the feelings. Sometimes it was hard with Wonho’s piercing gaze and intuitive instinct towards his friends. But if you could succeed this long you figured you could keep going until you found someone else to turn your feelings towards.
Coming back to reality you noticed the two of you were coming up to the intersection you parted ways at. You snuck a look at Wonho and found he’d stuck in his earbuds as you were lost in your thoughts. You smiled gently, liking that he left you to your own devices most of the time. With your smile turning into a grin you mimicked his previous gesture and bumped his shoulder with your own.
His lips automatically broke into a smile and he tugged out an earbud as he looked at you. “Are you back on earth?”
“Har, har,” you scowled. He responded by throwing his arm around your shoulders and giving you a quick squeeze. The two of you stopped at the intersection and broke apart.
“I’ll call you later tonight, okay,” Wonho said around a yawn, his hand coming up to cover his mouth.
“Sounds good. See you tomorrow.”
With that the two of you turned your separate ways and walked off. As you drew further and further apart you let your thoughts wander again, this time towards your project. Before you could delve too deeply into your ideas a loud shout of your name had you turning around. Wonho was many ways away and waving his arms. Even from here you could see his wide smile.
“Y/N do well on your project!”
Laughing you flashed a thumbs up and then waved your hand over your head before turning away again to the sound of his joyful laughter
That night after you’d finished your project, you plopped onto your bed and stared up at the ceiling. Turning only your head to look at your clock, you felt your features fall into a frown. It was an hour after Wonho usually called. Remembering he was on a date with Ahreum your frown softened and you sat up. He was probably having an amazing time with his girlfriend, you thought to yourself. He didn’t need you interrupting.
Heaving yourself off the mattress you decided to get ready for bed figuring you’d see Wonho tomorrow anyway.
The next morning you arrived at school a little later than usual and found all your friends together at your usual spot outside the school front steps. Jooheon smiled and waved you over and when you came to stand with them, Minhyuk intertwined your arms together.
“Now we just need Wonho to get his butt to school and we’ll be complete,” Minhyuk smiled.
You frowned slightly. “Wonho’s not here?”
“No,” Kihyun replied, he was sitting next to Shownu on the school steps glaring up at people who stepped a little too closely to him. “He also didn’t bombard me with homework questions last night.”
“He didn’t call me either,” you respond in thought. The others murmur that they too had not been in contact with their friend. Everyone blinks at that, Wonho was always talking to someone in the group, or to you all in the group chat.
“Maybe he fell asleep doing homework,” Hyungwon mumbled tiredly. Minhyuk reached over and gently flicked his forehead.
“Not everyone sleeps like you.”
Suddenly your phone buzzed in your pocket and you dig it out only to sigh in relief at the caller ID being Wonho’s name. He’s sent you two messages and you open them expecting to see the usual caps lock and smiley faces that he’s late and needs you to make up an excuse. But instead you see two curt messages.
Can I talk to you alone?
The usual spot?
When you don’t immediately respond another message comes through.
Please. I need you.
With a deep breath you pull away from Minhyuk. “Sorry guys I remembered I forgot to print out something for class. I’ll see you later!”
The guys wave to you as you break away and enter the school. Students are still bustling around and chattering happily. You steer yourself down the hallways and through the library doors. It’s quiet with only a few students frantically trying to print things out last minute. You walk past them towards the back corner where you find Wonho with his elbows resting on his knees and his face buried in his palms.
You approach him carefully and silently lower yourself next to him on the bench. At the creaking from the wooden planks, Wonho looks up and you immediately meet his tired and red eyes. Worry takes over and you lean in slightly closer.
“Wonho? What’s wrong?”
He studies your face silently, his eyes searching for something but you’re not quite sure what.
“You’re my best friend right?” His voice wavers slightly. “You’d never judge me for anything, right?”
Your initial reaction is to try and crack a joke, to lighten the mood and bring a smile to his face. But something about his tone and the questions being asked make you nod gravely.
“Hoseok, you don’t need to ask me that. I’ll stand by you no matter what.”
His shoulders seem to sink slightly in relief before he rubs his face with his hands. His tongue darts out to lick his dry lips and he takes a deep breath before turning back to look at you. He hesitates for a moment and you lift your brows expectantly.
“Ahreum…” He stops and shakes his head. Your thoughts jump to a break up but you wait to see if your suspicions are confirmed. “For the past few weeks Ahreum’s been kind of distant. I thought maybe she was getting tired of me and wanted to break up but didn’t know how to.”
You nod encouragingly when he stops then to nibble on his bottom lip. He sighs and continues. “So last night I asked her if there was something wrong and she told me…she told me…Y/N, Ahreum’s pregnant. And it’s my baby.”
t’s as if time has stopped for you and you blink at him in silence as the information tries to process in your head. You didn’t even know they were sexually active, not that you wanted to know, and honestly you should’ve expected it with how long they’d been dating.
“You two didn’t use…” you trailed off, almost not wanting to say it.
“We did, but it must’ve broken,” his voice was shaking again at your lack of expression. “I’m sorry I didn’t call last night. We decided to break the news to our parents and get it out as soon as possible. I had to deal with that all night. God, my mom barely looked at me this morning.”
Turning away you let your thoughts run wild. You didn’t know what to say. They were too young; they were too inexperienced in life.
“Is Ahreum okay?” You weakly asked, trying to fill the silence. You mentally slapped yourself. How would you feel pregnant and still in high school? Your thoughts snap.
“She’s going to the doctor’s today with her mom.”
You decide to ask the big question to get it out of the way. “Is she going to keep the baby?”
“I don’t know yet. That’s what the appointment is for. She’s going to see what options she has.” Wonho snuck a peek at you and winced at your tense expression as you stared blankly at the ground. When he spoke again his voice was barely more than a whisper. “You’re mad.”
You blinked back to reality and turned to look at him. “No. Oh no, Hoseok, I’m not mad. It’s just…a lot to take in.”
Slowly, Wonho rested his head on your shoulder and sniffled as he hiccupped slightly. “As long as you’re not mad it’ll be fine.”
Hesitantly, you reached up and ran your fingers along his hair. The bell rang for class but the two of you continued to sit there in silence. You knew he was in no shape to go to class just yet and you’d be there for him as long as he needed.
After school, you and Wonho silently walked through the courtyard. At the front gates he stopped suddenly and you looked up to find him staring off in a different direction. Following his gaze, you found Ahreum and her mother standing next to their car. Ahreum gave the two of you a tentative wave and you returned the gesture with a smile.
When Wonho didn’t make any movements you touched his arm. “You’ll have to face it sometime.”
Wonho nodded and then started towards them. He stopped only a few steps from you and turned to look at you again. “Will you be okay getting home?”
You nod with a smile and wait for him to turn back around before you start walking once more.
When you arrive home you retreat to your room before your parents can ask you about your day and decide to get started on your homework to try and push away your thoughts.
You don’t know how long you’ve been working before the group chat suddenly explodes with messages. You assume Wonho broke the news to everyone else and your assumptions are correct when you open the messages. He’s left it simple, stating what was happening and then explaining he’d talk to us all later because he was dealing with things with his family.
Minhyuk: OMG WAIT YOU CAN’T SAY THAT AND THEN LEAVE
Kihyun: your reaction is exactly why he left
Shownu: That’s…wow that’s a lot to take in
Hyungwon: Y/N did you know?
Y/N: Yes he told me this morning.
A new message comes in pulling your attention from the chat. You blink to see it’s from Kihyun and you open it wondering what he can’t say to you in the group chat. When you read the message you know exactly why it’s private.
Kihyun: Are you okay?
Y/N: I don’t know
Kihyun: I’ll beat him up for you
Smiling, you shake your head and type out your response.
Y/N: Not necessary but thank you for the offer
Kihyun: Any time
With the group chat still exploding over the news you mute the messages and get up to take a shower. The warm water has you clearing your thoughts and letting your tense shoulders relax. You almost don’t want to leave the water but you force yourself out and into a pair of pajamas.
When you’re finished and patting your hair with a towel, your mother calls you down for dinner and you drape the towel on your desk chair before hollering that you’ll be down in a second. After raking your brush through the damp strands, you twist it into a braid and turn to look over your shoulder when your phone buzzes from a new message.
Finishing your braid, you make your way to your phone pick it up to see a new message from Wonho. When it’s opened your heart just about crawls out your throat when you read the words.
We’re going to the keep the baby.

DISPATCH, 03/30/17: Mirage Media has officially released information about leader and main rapper, Yong Seongkyeo, also known as Kyeo, on G-ZER0’s official website! Kyeo is a ‘93 liner and has been beloved by fans since his debut in 2013. Find out more about Kyeo below!
I, YONG SEONGKYEO, have read and understand the terms and conditions as my position of LEADER AND LEAD RAPPER of G-ZER0 and agree to honor the standards that are to be expected of me as an employee of MIRAGE.
OOC INFORMATION
Preferred name: Ossy Pronouns: they/them Timezone: EST Other muses: —
IC INFORMATION
Faceclaim: Park Jiwoo aka Jinjin of ASTRO
Name: Yong Seongkyeo Stage name (if applicable): Kyeo
Idol concept: He is regarded as having some of the best raps in the industry, even having earned a few nicknames from fans due to this. There are rumors that he was offered/is currently being offered a solo rap career under Prime. He was a temporary host for television host 2.
…and it is quite true, because Kyeo has been known to have written raps for many other groups as well as himself and his own group. His fans adore this about him and support him every step of the way. Kyeo does enjoy it, though, because it makes him feel better about himself as a songwriter/rapper. He is always desperate to please not only his fans but other groups and his own. He tries to look prideful but Kyeo does not have a big ego. So while he looks like he can do anything to his fans, he actually does struggle a lot on the inside and with himself when it comes to all the work he has to do. His public image is so much more pure than his private life, as he prefers not to worry his fans and even his groupmates. There is nothing worse than having the attention all shifted onto him. This is why Kyeo always works hard for everyone.
Birth date and age: Oct. 26th, 1993; age 23 Company name: Mirage Group Name (if applicable): G-ZER0 Group Position (if applicable): Leader/Lead rapper
Strengths: Kyeo’s strengths include his rapping and songwriting skills. He is also very good at putting forth a lot of energy to keep his group running and overall is a strong support as the leader of his group. Weaknesses: While he does sing and dance, he is not as great as his groupmates, especially when it comes to dancing. He is always one of the last ones to learn all the moves and has to work harder because of this. It is also very easy for Kyeo to become disorganized and overworked.
Positive traits: ambitious, sympathetic, attentive Negative traits: introverted, vulgar, quiet
PERSONAL HISTORY: tw: homophobia
When your family is broke as hell, all you ever want is for them to get by, right? That’s what Kyeo really wanted, but somehow it never really seemed to be enough. With a booming economy and mother out of work, there wasn’t much that him and his older brother could do until they got into high school.
Kyeo was born into a family of three; a mom, dad, and older brother by 3 years. From his birth to when he was about ten years old, things were just great between the family. His mom and dad worked 9 to 5 jobs that had them up in the morning for breakfast and home at night for dinner as well as his brother helping Kyeo with his homework almost every night he had some. They were like a blissful, fairy tail family–
And then his mom lost her job. He was eleven and it seemed that it was the only thing she really cared about. It was also when his father was promoted, but the promotion was anything but good for the family. Kyeo found his father working long hours, spending all his time at home in bed either drinking, watching television, or sleeping away so that he could get up and do the same routine all over again the next day. It was painful to see, that and the fact this his mom did what seemed like a complete 360 degree twist of her life. She was more harsh, more rude, and definitely a lot more strict on her boys.
Upon entering high school at the age of fifteen, Kyeo had a factory job in the city to which he reported to almost every day after school. They were nice to him and they barely let him work past sunset every day in order to send him home to have dinner and do his homework. But it just caused more drama between him and his mom– and not to mention his brother, who was out of high school by then, slaved his way through a job he hated too. It hurt him so much, honestly, seeing his whole family fall apart and he was only fifteen.
But it all changed when he found out he was gay. Being gay is something you don’t like to talk about with your family that often and Kyeo never did, at least, until he brought a boy home from school that he had recently started dating. He was head over heels for the boy; he found peace and heaven in him and the two of them clicked so well despite all the people at school who bullied them to no end. Somehow he felt he could have the shittiest day and wake up remembering he had someone like that in his life and everything would be okay– but that was just a mistake.
The mistake he made was bringing him home. His mom went absolutely nuts. In front of the other fifteen year old’s eyes, his mother beat Kyeo, not with her fists, but with anything she could find - spoons, pans, baking sheets… anything, and it scared the absolute shit out of both of the little kids, so much that Kyeo found himself losing the one boy he felt he could trust and lean on in any situation. He blamed his mom; no, he blamed his whole fucking family for turning into this shitty example of how poverty forces a wedge between the once beautiful relationships they had.
His mom hated his sexuality. His mom hated him and everytime he would make a snide remark about not being interested in a girl that someone showed him, Kyeo found himself being battered, so battered that he became spooked by the littlest brief noises that sounded like the beating of a boy who only wanted his mom to love him. He still gets twitchy hearing things like that, even after he had escaped that life when he was seventeen. He was sick and tired of his mom shitting on his interest in men and and then literally beating him up for it, until he practically bled sometimes. Kyeo had enough.
It was no secret that the boy had a passion for music, and he had used this as an outlet to try and cope with the way his family treated him. With his misfit poems and his desire to do something more, he moved out, and he found himself interning at what was then a small company within his city, RHYTHMS, and as their popularity grew, so did Kyeo’s career in songwriting. He soon grew tired of watching everyone take credit for his work and decided on auditioning himself. It was only to make himself proud and more known to the public. And, to his surprise, he made it into RHYTHMS upcoming group, G-ZER0 at the age of 17.
As a trainee, he pushed himself to every limit every day. He tried to avoid all of his groupmates in G-ZER0 for the simple fact that he didn’t want them to know who he really was, but that was before he found out he was going to be the leader of them all. (Kyeo would never tell anyone how much he cried that night after figuring it out because he was so happy and proud of himself, yet so distraught and unaware of what to make of it all.) From that point on, he lightened up, showing that he could take that responsibility and prove to people he was worth it. There was just one problem– they still didn’t know he was broke and gay.
…and hopefully they would never know. He debuted with the group at the age of 20, shining as their songwriter, leader, and lead rapper. God, he’s so proud of himself but all he can think about sometimes is if his mother knows he’s out here living a dream he never thought he had. He’s so blessed and so thankful that it feels so sinful to think it’s not worth it if his mom doesn’t notice…
So he tries not to, but damn, it still hurts.
Nowadays he finds himself doing all he can to support his group. He is 23 and too old for being the emotional child he was when the group had debuted. Many fans believe he has grown as a person with the position at stake, and Kyeo truly believes it too. He finds himself thankful for his career and the way it has shaped him, because he has opened up a bit more, become more responsible, and also found that he can appreciate life without constantly looking over his shoulder for the face that he used to think judge him. He cherishes not only his fans but his group mates, as they are his closest and the most important people in his life. He has achieved not only being the leader one of the most popular boy groups of all time, but also being a soloist on the side, having released a mixtape and some singles. Kyeo is still working towards his goals, too, even though he has already achieved them, because he always believes that the sky’s the limit.

Talking Cannabis Edibles With The Goodship Company.
Q: Hey Jody! It's an honor to have you on! How are you?
A: Great, it's a big honor to be here, I love your site!
Q: So, you not only founded The Goodship Company, but also run a bakery called Cupcake Royale?
A: Yes, I opened Cupcake Royale, the nation's first cupcake bakery outside of NYC in 2003, and we now have 6 locations including Pike Place Market and Capitol Hill and are featured on Alaska Airlines. We feature local, sustainable and extra-delicious ingredients to make epic cupcakes. Our history of creating some really delectable baked goods, backed by a PNW culture that's iconic and representative of our community, is what lead me to start The Goodship after I502 passed.
Q: What made you get into the cannabis industry and start The Goodship Company?
A: t was actually a sudden decision for me, and I submitted on the last day of the application window. It wasn't until I received my license that I realized (as well as half the city that read about it in the media) that I had to do something with it! And I'm so glad I did. I think that The Goodship now stands for a future of cannabis and culture that is really exciting and important.
Q: We've never seen an edibles company hand make everything from scratch! This is so great. What made you take this route vs buying ingredients from the store?
A: I think it's my history at Cupcake Royale to bringing all-natural, fresh-baked goods made with real ingredients from local farmers and purveyors to customers every day that stays with me and carries over into Goodship, even though cannabis is a packaged goods industry. We are committed to creating the most simple ingredient list possible. If you look at the back of one of our cookies, you'll find only clean ingredients that are all natural, and feature things like organic sugar and fair trade chocolate. We think that the cookie itself is just as important as the high, and that both should come from sources that are good for your body and mind. And it should be DELICIOUS!
Q: Can you break down how much work goes into making a single batch of Snickerdoodle cookies?
A: Now we've got it down to a science, but just like in any food manufacturing, it takes a lot to get a product onto a shelf, plus the added aspect of cannabis regulation, compliance and tracking. We start with our raw ingredients that we mix, make cookie "pucks," and bake in our facility in the SODO neighborhood of Seattle. Then they cool and get packaged. After packaging, the cookies move to a finished goods area, and after orders are placed, they are picked, stickered according to order, case-packed, and placed into a mandatory quarantine for at least 24 hours before than can be released. They are then manifested to the destination store and loaded onto the truck for delivery. All of these steps are logged in a system utilized by the state to track cannabis products from "seed to sale." While it's a lot of work, we respect the in-depth compliance required to safely get products to customers, and the level of transparency it brings to the industry. Washington has done a great job, given we were such an early state to legalize, setting up a system that works and therefore creates a foundation from which other states can build.
Q: With your product's ingredients all from scratch, does this affect your shelflife? How do you combat that?
A: We spent almost 1 full year working on the recipe before we released our first cookie to the market. Even though our ingredients are all natural and have no preservatives, we are able to guarantee a 6-month shelf life on our cookies, and an even longer shelf for products like chocolate and candies. It's just about having the right proportions and quality of ingredients, prepared properly, and packaged really well. We nitro-flush all our packages in really high quality aluminum-lined film that protects our products and keeps them fresh for as long as possible.
Q: What is the "Goodship Higher Education" and how would one attend an event?
A: Goodship Higher Education is what we call a heady lecture series under heady influence. It's about taking big, heady conversations out of, say, your basement with just a couple friends, and into a shared community experience. We invite everyone to "pre-board" on the Goodship before arriving (the legal way to have a cannabis event), and be guided by an industry-leading expert on an exciting, mind-bending, topic. We just kicked off our 2017 series on February 9 with a talk titled Where are the Extraterrestrials? and lead by Seth Shostak, the senior astronomer of SETI, and one of the world's most distinguished scientists on alien life. It's a really fun experience to be high with 200 other people in a room together talking about some existential topic, or for this one, the existence of aliens in our universe right now. And if you haven't been to one yet, you have to check it out - the energy in the room alone is worth experiencing! Tickets are always available to the public (21+ only). The best thing to do is sign up for our mailing list on our website and you'll get all the email notifications about events.
Q: Your branding is amazing and fits perfectly into the Seattle cannabis scene. Where does the inspiration come from?
A: It's a combination of things, and it took a while before I landed on the name "Goodship." A little fanciful, a little fun, a little sophisticated, and an all-around good time. Goodship is about celebrating all the good in life, about taking time to enjoy the little things and to connect with people and the world around you in new and profound ways. We love the word "good." "Be good.", "Do Good", "Good times." It's endless, and there's something so satisfying about that word. That's what we hope people feel when they experience the Goodship.
Q: We took a look at The Goodship Guide to Edible Cannabis. It's great! How important is it to inform customers/patients on how to treat edibles?
A: You guys really did your homework! We appreciate that more than you know. Informing customers is hugely important to us, and also can be difficult to do. The industry is so new, and people are confused about what to buy or what to do, and have difficulty accessing solid information, which is admittedly minimal. The Guide to Edibles hopefully gives readers a baseline of knowledge that they can apply to all edible consumption, not just Goodship products. We cited our sources and tried to offer the most up-to-date, validated information, but the industry is also changing rapidly with more technology and advancements happening every day. We're currently working on edition 2 of the Guide that offers some of that new information.
Q: Are there any misconceptions portrayed by the media that you would like to see changed?
A: I think there are many misconceptions around normalization of cannabis, and the big part of that that Goodship is trying to help change is around the portrayed culture of cannabis use. We're used to stereotypes like it makes you lazy or stupid, and we think that cannabis offers a lot more than that. Not only does it have strong medicinal value, but we like it's ability to connect us to the world around us in unique and profound ways. It allows us to "disconnect to connect" - to let all the fluff and clutter in our lives fall away so that we can reconnect and focus on something in a more meaningful way. I think we're all starving for meaningful human connection, and cannabis can be a tool for that.
Q: What changes have you seen in the Washington cannabis industry since legalization?
A: In terms of the industry itself, it's amazing to see the incredible things that growers and processors are doing and the huge array of products being offered. There are really cool things happening with cannabinoid and terpene profiles for flower strains, and especially as they relate to extraction technologies which allow manipulation and reintroduction of cannabinoids and terpenes to make super customized extracts, and potentially their associated experiences. In terms of the market, we've seen it continue to grow since legalization and culturally-speaking, we're seeing cannabis moving closer to normalization and away from taboo. But we still have a long ways to go. We really enjoy partnering with other cannabis companies to help make it all happen, and in that regard, we believe that a rising tide lifts all ships.
Q: Anything you would like to see change in Washington's cannabis laws?
A: Being amongst the first of 2 states to legalize cannabis, and given it's federal status, 502, in all it's glory, can also be strict and especially it certain areas, it can be cumbersome to deal with. We're looking forward to revisions to some of the regulations that will hopefully lighten up on some of the intensity of rigor that will allow producers and retailers alike to create better efficiencies and scalability in their businesses. What we're really looking forward to, though, is the expansion of legalization to things like places of enjoyment. It's just a matter of time I think!
Q: Where do you see The Goodship Company in 5 years? Plans on expanding outside of Washington or keeping it local?
A: We are definitely looking at opportunities outside of WA, but we want to be strategic about how we expand. Instead of opening quickly in each new market, we want to really win in WA and take an experienced, proven brand to new states, and select those that align best with our brand and goals. However we do it, we want to maintain a strong PNW vibe and bring a Seattle spirit to new regions.
Q: Are there any dispensaries in Washington that don't carry your product?! Seems like you can find your products all over the state!
A: We can be found in about 100 cannabis stores across WA state. We've been very lucky, and are really so thankful for our really incredible retailers who do a great job getting Goodship to customers.
Q: Final Question! What are you most grateful for today? :)
A: That's a profound question. Honestly, I'm so grateful for the opportunities I've had along the way to allow me to be in this place at this time to create Goodship. We have a beautiful future ahead of us and we hope to carry the torch as the protagonist for edible marijuana in a way not dissimilar than how Starbucks took the commodity of coffee into a world class and revered lifestyle brand.
